Conference Dinner
The official conference dinner will be held in a downtown Osaka izakaya (traditional Japanese pub), and provide a relaxed and enjoyable environment to meet and network with other delegates. The dinner fee includes a set meal and a choice of soft and alcoholic drinks. This meal is available with a no meat option (fish). Unfortunately we are unable to cater for strict vegetarians or vegans.

We are pleased to offer our delegates several events outside of the conference in order to experience the wonders of Japan and to better know their fellow delegates. There is a tour in Osaka before the conference and another in Kyoto the day after. Our day walking tours involve travel to and from the different destinations by public transport (train and subway). Please refer to the information below for complete details and pricing. Delegates can register for the conference and each event individually or any combination they wish.

April 5 - Osaka Conference Tour 7,000 JPY
We will spend the day exploring Osaka Castle and several of the cities excellent municipal museums. This tour will leave from the Ramada Osaka in the morning and will return to the hotel by 5:00.
Osaka is known around the world as a major center for business and trade, and was the first entry point for foreign trade into Japan dating back to the early 8th century. Despite being known for trade and commerce, Osaka also has a rich traditional side. Although much of the city was destroyed during world war II, many of Osaka's traditional spots were saved, salvaged and repaired, including Osaka Castle and Shitenno Temple which dates back nearly 1400 years. Join us on Friday March 29th as we we travel around Osaka on a tour that blends the modern with the traditional in Osaka.

Osaka Castle - Constructed in 1583 by Shogun Hideyoshi Toyotomi, Osaka Castle was built as a emblem of his power and wealth. It was destroyed in 1615 by Tokugawa Ieyasu and rebuilt several years later. Although damaged in World War II, it was not destroyed and has been renovated and reconstructed several times since 1615.
Osaka Museum of History - Located next to Osaka Castle Park, the museum chronicles 1400 years of this incredible and influential city.
Osaka Art Museum - A piece of art itself, the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art houses some 8000 plus works from across Japan. This museum also serves as a place of art education, where workshops are held on subjects such as art history and calligraphy.
Shitenno Temple - The oldest "officially administered" temple in Japan, Shitennoji was constructed at the close of the 6th century by Prince Shotoku, who bought about the adoption of Buddhism in Japan.

At one time the imperial capital of Japan, Kyoto now serves as its cultural and historical center. The ancient capital is home to hundreds of temples and including 17 world heritage sites such as Kiyomizudera, Nijo Castle, and Kinkaku-ji. Kyoto is an amazing mix of the surrounding nature, traditional buildings, and modern-day Japan. Join us as we spend the day walking around Kyoto learning more about this area's vast history and deep cultural heritage.
Tour Details: This tour will require lots of walking so please keep that in mind when preparing. Locations may vary depending on available time and permitting weather.

One of Japan's most famous temples, Kiyomizudera is known for its waterfall and temple which are nestled in the hills that surround the city. Divided into three separate streams, visitors can drink from the falls by catching the water in cups attached to polls. Each stream is said to add its own benefit to life, but drinking from all three is considered greedy.
Gion - Relatively untouched by time, Gion is the traditional area of Kyoto. Its is not uncommon to see Geisha and Maiko (Geisha in training) walking the streets.
Heian Jingu - This shrine was built toward the end of the 19th century and is dedicated to Emperor Kammu who was essential in the birth of Kyoto as a city and the then-capital of Japan.
Kinkaku-ji - Another of Japan's great temples, this building is coated in gold leaf. Although it was at one time burned to the ground, it was rebuilt and has been maintained as cultural landmark for Japan.
Ryoan-ji - This temple is most famous for it's zen rock garden. Built more than 500 years ago, the garden contains 15 stones, however only 14 at most are visible at any one time.

How can I pay the conference registration fees?
You are invited to pay the conference registration fees, by choosing from the following options:
1) You may pay by PayPal now online using a credit card. Please choose the Paypal option below.
Please enter your full name in English, and, if you are a presenter of an accepted proposal, then please enter your four digit submission reference number. This is located in your official letter of acceptance. If you are an audience member, then please write "audience". Hit the 'Add to cart'' button(s) below to select the option(s), before then clicking on the 'view my cart' and proceeding to 'check out' through PayPal's secure site.
2) You may pay by the registration fees by bank transfer, although this takes longer and involves more expense. Please choose the bank transfer option below. Please include in the notes on the bank transfer 'ACAH 2012', your full name, and, if you are a presenter, your four digit submission reference number. This is located in your official letter of acceptance. If you are not a presenter then please leave this blank.

At the time of the conference, you will be provided with a receipt for the registration along with a certificate of attendance and participation. In the meantime, your PayPal Receipt will serve as an official receipt of payment. If you pay by bank transfer, then your receipt from the bank, once confirmed by IAFOR, will serve this role.
Can I get a refund?
Please note that if you need to cancel your registration for whatever reason, you must do so in writing by March 15 2012, by mailing acah@iafor.org. Registration cancellation before this time will result in the issuance of a refund, subject to a JPY 10,000 service fee. Refunds will not be given after this date. Requests for refunds for optional extras purchased separately from registration (conference dinner and tours) must similarly be made by March 15, 2012 and will be subject to a JPY 1,000 service fee. Refunds for optional extras will not be given after this date.
